sandstone, steeply-pitched slate roof with chimney stack at junction of ridges
bearing Tudor-style decorated clustered flues, slim gable chimneys, and
corbelled extruded side wall chimney. L-shaped plan: 2 short wings at right
angles with diagonal porch in the angle, projecting bay to rear of left return
wall. Set back below road level, single storey front but 2-storey rear with
basement. Elaborate Gothic style, with stepped dripbands on 2 levels, parapet
continued over gables as stepped coping with little flat-toped pinnacle at the
apex. Porch has stepped embattled parapet, Tudor-arched doorway with shield
on each jamb; to right the right wing has a triangular window with trefoils,
the wall above steeply gabled with an attached shaft terminating in a
flat-topped pinnacle; gable of left wing has chamfered corners, both gables
have a stepped triple-light window with traceried trefoil-headed lights. Left
return wall has chamfered segmental-headed basement door and above this a
corbelled chimney with a shield and a decorated top; projecting rear bay has
stepped triple-light window.
