CLAUGHTON,
A6,
2 pairs of piers with linking walls at entrance to drive to Myerscough House

(Formerly listed as 2 pairs of piers with linking walls at entrance to drive to Myrescough House)

II

Entrance piers and walls, mid C18. Piers of rusticated sandstone ashlar.
Outer piers square on plan, with moulded cornices and ball finials. The
north and south side of each has an attached Doric pilaster with triglyph.
Curved walls of squared rubble with copings link the outer piers to inner
piers which flank the drive. These are also of rusticated ashlar and of
square plan, and appear to have had their tops rebuilt.
