Late C18/early C19 building. Painted roughcast facade with slate roof. 3 storeys.
No 10 has 1 window, modern casement top floor, 3-light unbarred sash 1st floor,
small altered late C19 shop front ground floor. No 12 has 2 windows, sashes with
glazing bars. Ground floor has early C20 shop front with advanced cornice. Round-arched
entrance to rear (Aldwmckle's Yard) between Nos 10 and 12. Interior of No 12 has
beams and large fireplace lintel with early C17 stop. Door also with early C17
moulding. Rear wing forms the western side of Aldwinckle's Yard. Red brick 3 storey
section to rear of No 12. Corrugated asbestos roof with off centre chimney. 3
windows, generally late C18/early C19 casements. To rear of this, 2 storey, 5 window
section. Windows generally late C18/early C19 casements. Aldwickle's Yard is the
most complete example of the colonization of a medieval burgage plot remaining
in the town.
