22/67 The Gables
GV II
House. Dated 1663. Coursed squared ironstone, plain tile roof, brick end and
ridge stacks. L-plan. 2 storeys and attic. Main front to garden has C20 front
door to far right in open gabled timber porch, a 3-light leaded casement window
to left with cemented sill, jambs, and lintel with hood mould, a similar 2-light
window to far left and 2 similar 3-light windows to first floor. Return wing has
C20 back door to left with moulded wood surround and timber lintel. 4-light
chamfered stone mullion window to right with hood mould, a similar 3-light first
floor window above. A single-storey C20 extension to left. Quoins, C20 roof
dormer and stone coped gables with kneelers. Right gable has datestone inscribed
1663/EP. Interior has ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams and some stop-chamfered
ceiling joists.
