Estate house, dated 1861, carstone rubble with brick dressings, decorative
tiles. Irregular plan with forward and side wings; 2 storeys. Brick
plinth, chamfered brick surrounds, skewback arches to windows, sawtooth
brick cornice, shaped brick kneelers, gable parapets. Forward gabled wing
to centre having brick tumbling-in, axial stack with 4 octagonal shafts
of red brick with moulded decoration of fleur de lys, thistle, rose, and
flowers; ground floor with bay windows, sawtooth cornice to polygonal roof
with decorative tiles; first floor with central 2-light casement, slit to
attic. Lower one bay wing to left with single casement light to each of
ground and first floor. Short single bay 2 storeyed wing to right having
Gothick doorway to left with boarded door and decoratiave strap hinges;
raking canopy in angle with fretwork verge supported by wooden post; single
light casement to first floor. Drainheads in angles of wings with Jarvis
crest and date 1861. Included for group value and as unaltered example
of mid C19 estate house.
