Late C18 former country house now linked at back to later hospital buildings.
2 storeys, 9 windows, the central 3-bay section recessed. Slated roofs, that
over the right section a later raised mansard with dormer. Stock brick with stone
coped parapet. Gauged flat brick arches to sash windows with glazing bars, mostly
replaced. 1st floor 2nd window blocked; central window in moulded architrave
set in wood panel. Ground floor centre section stuccoed, with Roman Doric columns
and frieze, has bow projection with 3 round-headed, half-glazed doors in reeded
architraves. The bow is flanked by round-headed niches. At either side a long
cast iron verandah with swept roof now renewed in corrugated iron. Inside an oval
entrance lobby and an oval stairwell with curved staircase and glass dome. Doors
and enriched architraves all curved to the shape of the wall. Several marble
fireplaces including a handsome carved one in right front room.
