Fir Tree Cottage

House. C17, restored and extended late C20. Timber-framed with painted
brick infill on rubble base and with slate roof. Two framed bays aligned
east/west; external rubble chimney at east gable end with tiled offsets and
detached brick stack. Two storeys. Framing: four rows of panels from sill
to wall-plate with short straight braces across lower corners of first floor
level; collar add tie-beam truss at east end with four struts beneath collar
and V-strut in apex, tie-beam truss at west end with latticed struts. Windows
are all C20 casements. North front elevation: there is a 2-light and a 3-light
window on both floors and a plank weathering at girding beam level. Large rear
two-bay two-storey C20 wing to east bay which has a lean-to outshut with a
catslide roof in the west angle. The main entrance is presently in the west
side of this outshut. Also rubble lean-to addition at west end of the main
range.
