Dressed limestone with tooled ashlar dressings, red brick cornice and stack;
slate roof. U-shaped on plan with former sergeant's house to front.
2 storeys, 3 bays; symmetrical. Raised quoins. Central projecting porch
with plinth, quoins, and C20 plank door and radial fanlight in raised ashlar
surround with moulded imposts and keystone. 12-pane sashes with raised
surrounds. Dentilled brick cornice. Hipped roof. Stands gable-end to Spa
Hill; right return facing street (former offices and cells) has similar
windows and recessed part-glazed door with moulded architrave and hood on
brackets. Built from materials taken from late C18 Prison. Included for
group value.
