Former village school and master's house now linked as a private
house. Foundation stone 1857, but present buildings probably
1875 (VCH (1912) 414). Red brick: red tile roofs, some tile
hanging. A high single-storey schoolroom lying E-W with 2 lower
wings on N side, roof carried down over enclosed porch on W side
of NW wing. Very tall chimneys with many steps on plan carried
up full height to multi stepped corbelled tops. 2 chimneys at NW
are bridged by a small roof at half-height, from which the bell
is suspended. Large wooden mullioned and transomed windows in
gables and carried above eaves on N side with flatter pitched
roof. Some gables half-hipped, one and a half storeys house on E
with same materials and detailing and wooden oriel in N gable.
The school has a low plinth and a moulded band below the windows.
