Coachhouse with stabling to right and left. Mid C18 remodelled in C19. Red
brick with pantiled roof. Coachhouse: single bay, 2 storey, gable entry.
Paired double-leaf doors, boarded below, 8 panels above, each under
elliptical brick arch. 6-pane tilting window under segmental brick arch to
gable. Tumbled-in brick to raised gable with mushroom-shaped finials to
base and apex. Stable to left of 5 bays with 4-panel doors to bays 1, 2 and
5. C20 double-leaf boarded door to bay 3, 16-pane sash to bay 4. All
openings under cambered gauged-brick arches. Tumbled-in brick to raised
gables; mushroom-shaped finials to base of right gable. Stable to right:
4 bays. 4-panel doors to bays 2 and 3, with tilting 8-pane overlights,
16-pane sashes to right and to left. Plain close verges. Included for
group considerations. Houghton Hall is included in the HBMC County Register
of Gardens at Grade II.
