HAWKHURST RYE ROAD TQ 7630-7730 (south side) 17/420 Fothersby and Fothersby West

GV II House, now house pair. C18 and extended. Red and blue chequered brick, with part tile-hung gables and return elevation. Plain tiled roof. Two storeys and attic with plinth, plat band and moulded wooden paired modillion eaves cornice to roof with pedimented dormers, flush skylights and stacks at end left, centre right and right. Projecting gabled wing to right, with hipped 2-storey porch extension in re-entrant angle at centre right. Regular fenestration of 3 glazing bar sashes on first floor, with single glazing bar sash to re-entrant porch, and tripartite glazing bar sash with single glazing bar sash over in gabled wing. Two tripartite glazing bar sashes and single on ground floor and half-glazed door to centre in mounded surround with flat hood on brackets. Panelled door in re-entrant porch with moulded surround and flat hood on brackets, and single storey ground floor extension to right with boarded door and plate windows. First floor C19 oriel to left return, casement windows to right return. Much altered and restored mid C20.
