Circa 1838 (Bulmer) but not on Belper Tithe Map (1844) Circa 1845-50? Architect,
Giles Scott. Designed as a workhouse for the Belper Union. Jacobean style.
Ashlar with quotas and slate roof. Built as a gatehouse. Two storeys. Centre round arch over carriageway with oriel window above, this set under gable with finials. Windows at each side. Latticed iron glazing. End stone stacks and coped gable ends to roof.
