SK 07 SE PARISH OF KINGSTERNDALE Cowdale Hall, Cowdale

21/4/67

Farmhouse. Dated 1637, with initials EB and AB on stone reset on south
wall and later remodelling. Coursed rubble limestone with gritstone
dressings, coped gables to west range, quoins, intermediate and end ridge
stacks, one with moulded cornice and drip. 'T' plan, with advanced
crosswing to west end. Two storeys, three bays, formerly with 3-light
flush mullioned windows, now largely replaced by C20 joinery. Crosswing
has flush surround for former sashes now with C20 joinery. Interior:
stone newel stair and a stone surround to a hearth.
