Manor house, now a pair of houses. C17 and early C18. Coursed
squared sandstone with sandstone dressings and quoins. Stone
slate roof with coped gables. Massive ashlar ridge stack and a
gable stack. Two storeys and attics, L-plan. South elevation
of three irregular bays. Holly House to the left represents the
C17 house. To the left a 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion
window to the ground and first floor. to the right at first
floor level is a small single light window with recessed and
chamfered surround. Similar blind window above. To the right
again a larger 2-light chamfered mullion window to the ground
floor and a larger 2-light window above with square section
flush surround. Two 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion
windows above in gabled dormers. To the right is more regularly
coursed masonry. To the ground floor is a doorway with massive
ashlar lintel and jambs, the lintel inscribed S 1710. The

Beeches, to the right has an C18 2-light square section flush
mullion window to each floor. The west gable end has a 2-light
recessed and chamfered mullioned window to each floor and a
blocked single light to the right of the top one. Lower wing to
rear has to the west two 2-light square section flush mullion
windows to the ground floor and two smaller windows above.
Inside is an early C18 closed string dogleg staircase with
turned balusters and heavy moulded handrail. In the window of
the first floor landing names have been cut into the glass of
the window at various dates.
