Pair of cottages. Early C19 with minor later alterations. Painted brick with slate roofs, brick gable end and ridge stacks and stepped eaves bands. Two storeys and two bays each. Main elevations face on to the River Derwent, each house has two plain sashes to ground floor and one plain sash and one glazing bar sash, above, those to No 5 are slightly wider spaced than those to No 7.

Street elevation of No 5, to north, has a moulded doorcase with reeded jambs, hood, and C20 studded wooden door, and small C20 lean-to. Above there is one horizontal sliding sash to south and a timber cross window to north. No 7 has a similar doorcase with original panelled door and a casement window to north, plus a fixed small pane window with single pane casement above the door.
