5/106 The Old Forge
II
Large detached house. Late C17/early C18, restored early C20.
Rubble stone partly faced in roughcast, stone slate roof, 4 stone
stacks on main block, 2 to left with brick flues, 2 to right with
ashlar flues and moulded cornice. 'L'-shape range with forward
projecting wing to left, probably the original forge and now with
garage in gable end. Two storeys and attic. Main block has 4
windows on both floors, 2-light casements some with latticed
leading. Nearly central C20 gabled projecting porch. Two small
hipped dormers with paired latticed casements. Projecting wing has
brick ridge stack, two hipped dormers on eaves also with latticed
casements, doorway with quoins and timber lintel.
