Parish church. Late C15 tower. Church rebuilt 1861-63 by S.S. Teulon. Ashlar limestone tower, squared dressed limestone church; stone slate roof. Nave with north aisle and porch; west tower, chancel with south vestry. Parapet gabled north porch at west end of aisle, moulded pointed arched doorway with jamb shafts, hoodmould with carved stops, alternating ashlar and tufa voussoirs. Three paired lancets to aisle with offset buttresses. Four 2- light pointed plate traceried windows to south side of nave. Chancel has parapet gabled east end with 3-light plate traceried east window. All gables coped with carved saddle stones and cross finials. Zig-zag notching to stone ridge copings. Three-stage tower has full-height diagonal offset buttresses; octagonal stair turret in north east corner rising above main crenellated parapet. Moulded Tudor arched west doorway with carved spandrels, hoodmould with square carved stops. Three-light Perpendicular west window with continuous hoodmould over. Two-light Perpendicular belfry openings with quatrefoil-pierced stone screens. Carved gargoyles to parapet, 2 to each side. Interior: wagon nave roof; 3-bay pointed arched arcade with octagonal capitals to cylindrical piers. Tall pointed tower arch with jamb shafts. Moulded chancel arch supported on leaf-carved corbels. Panelled timber chancel ceiling. Rere-arch and jamb shafts to chancel window. Many fittings by Teulon, all showing his individual approach. Circular timber pulpit has panelling in curious frame, bracketed stone base. Hexagonal font, originally placed in tower, has 7 supporting base shafts; tall openwork spire top now placed in tower. Fine Baroque monument in tower with scrolled pediment, putti, death's head and surmounting escutcheon. Flanking Ionic columns. Inscribed to Mrs HEVENINGHAM BRIDGEMAN, wife of GEORGE BRIDGEMAN, died 1673. Reset memorial tablet to William Bridgeman, died 1696, has scrolled pediment top and escutcheon, mounted to left of tower arch. Windows have Teulon's characteristic caming, yellow glass with clear glass margins. One stained glass window, 1862 possibly by Powell. (M. Saunders, The Churches of S.S. Teulon, 1982; D.
