Parish church with gateway and railings. 1836 by Robert Stokes for David Ricardo, MP. Ashlar limestone; concrete tile roof. Nave with aisles and very short chancel; gallery at north end. School in undercroft. Rather plain Early English style, parapet gabled west end having large kneelers to central part; pointed triplet window above moulded pointed doorway approached by wide flight of stone steps. Single lancet window to each aisle. Buttressed 7-bay sides, diagonal buttresses at corners. Plain lancet to each bay with square headed window to undercroft. Interior: high 7-bay aisle arcades orginally had slender iron columns, now encased in Norman style C20 piers. Flat panelled nave ceiling; transverse Tudor arches to aisles. Moulded pointed chancel arch with triple attached jamb shafts. Panelled lobby with gallery over at north end, gallery front having some openwork carved tracery. South (liturgical east) chancel window has good stained glass, probably by Henry Payne. Coloured glass margins to aisle windows All fittings appear contemporary although some re- ordering has taken place. Plain iron railings run along roadside to west, gateway having panelled stone octagonal piers with moulded caps; contemporary iron gates.
