Old Tower Cottage
4.7.60 (formerly listed as
- Tower Cottage)
GV II
Detached house. Possibly C16, much modified. Timber framed, but east front
and gable to road in coursed rubble, half-hipped thatched roof, stack near
north end. An L-plan formed by later extension to original cottage. 1½
storeys, road gable has single light casement over C20 V-shaped oriel, C20
door in east front, variable casements including 2-light dormer, in thatch.
Some heavy timber framing within. Included principally for group value,
this appears to have been one of a group of labourers cottages in the heart
of the original village, associated with the old church, now represented
only by its tower (qv).
