8/336 Piers, boundary walls and
railings to Dover House
GV II
Gate piers, boundary walls, railings and gate. C18. Limestone, wrought iron.
In two units: to left of house a pair of rusticated square piers to moulded
cappings and decorative urns on reconstructed stone flared based, joined by low
wall in large squared limestone blocks to a stone weathered coping. Across the
frontage of the house, full width, set of simple iron railings to spear heads,
set to dwarf stone wall, small gate opposite principal entry, further gate,
right, at entry to Dover cottage; gates with spear head dog-bars. To right is
further square rusticated pier to capping and on all as previous piers, but here
in original materials: all piers have a frieze with elongated losenage
decoration. To right of pier a wall in large limestone blocks to weathered
capping, normally full width of site.
