House. Probably 1st half C17; altered C18, c1800, mid C19 and early C20. Timber
frame with wattle and daub infill, tile-hung on entrance elevation, rear
and left return having ground floor underbuilt in flint with brick dressings,
the 1st floor of rear with brick infill and of left return tile hung; mid-C19
addition of pinkish brick in Flemish garden wall bond (2 stretchers, 1 header),
tile-hung at front. Plain tile roofs. Brick stacks. 1½ storey 2-bay original
range with lobby-entry plan; single-storey l-bay addition on right. Entrance
elevation: on right of original range, board door masked by C19 gabled brick
porch with basket-arched opening and band of fishscale tiles to roof; to
its left a C19 2-light small-paned metal casement window, the upper panes
ogee-arched; above this and early-C20, 2-light, 8-pane, casement window
set above eaves under gablet; ridge stack in line with porch; roof half-hipped
at left end and at right end of added bay. Rear: projecting at left end
of original range is probably C18 semi-circular brick bread oven with tile
roof; to its right a C20 2-light small-pane casement window with window
above as front; a 6-pane window to right bay; a stack rises from near eaves
between windows. Left return: board door on left; a C20 2-light window to
each floor. Interior: full-height wattle and daub partition between left-hand
bays; parts of the timber frame exposed; on ground floor chamfered beams,
that in central bay having stepped triangle and cyma stops; on 1st floor
wide floorboards, cambered tie-beam at original right-hand end, eaves plate
and straight wind braces. In state of disrepair at time of inspection.
