Formerly known as The Corn Exchange 1865, by Salter and Wyatt. A hall above
a raised base, having a symmetrical facade of 7 bays, in classical form. Eng
bay is separated by pilasters, rusticated at the basement level, supporting a
blind arcade which frames tall round-headed windows. The walling is in yellow
brickwork in Flemish bond with stone dressings. The parapet, with plain coping
stone, is raised above each pilaster, with low flanking sides and still lower
walling (with a recess) in the centre of each bay. A massive moulded entablature
along the front returns above each pilaster and is linked to the arcade by triple
keystones; the centre bay being broken by a pediment, which encloses a keystone.
