SU 5828 CHERITON BADSHEAR LANE

11/2 L-shaped barn range 50m
E of North End Farmhouse

GV II

Barns. C17 and C18. Timber-frame weatherboarded on brick plinth, corrugated iron
roof. Opposite farmhouse C17 8 bay barn aisled on far side with 2 midstrays on that
side in 3rd and 6th bay from right, and double door opposite with outshots between
on courtyard side. Roof hipped at right and at left hip remains inside later barn.
Inside queen strut originally queen post with many reused timbers, straight braces,
also wind braces. Aisle posts on plates on brick plinths, originally no aisle ties.
Across left end C18 5 bay barn, aisled on outside with midstray to centre bay on
both sides, and C19 wide 6-pane windows all round. Roof half-hipped. C18 dairy
at end aisled with queen strut roof. Inside low queen strut roof with curved braces
and wind braces.
