Country house. c1800. Yellow brickwork in Flemish bond, rubbed flat arches,
parapet with open panels filled with balustrading in the upper part, cornice with
stone moulding above coupled brick modillions, stone cills, deep projecting plain
stone plinth band. Square main block, with symmetrical elevations; north front
with half-hexagonal full-height central projection; of two storeys and semi-
basement, 1.3.1 windows. Sashes in reveals, round-headed lights in recessed
arches to the ground-floor (one filled). The entrance has a tall arched opening
with rusticated stone surround (stepped above the arch), with a plain recessed
opening containing double doors of three panels above a flight of stone steps
within flanking walls: the walls now support a wood classical porch. The south
(garden) elevation has a full-height segmental centrepiece; of two storeys, 1.3.1
windows, sashes (triple to the outer ground-floor windows), tall front window in
the centre, opening onto a flight of steps. West elevation with slightly-projecting
centre, 1.3.1 windows; the east side is the same but has a narrow lower service
wing (of matching features but probably of later date) extending from the north
front eastwards, with four regular windows at the south elevation. Note: the
slate mansard roof previously described, has been removed.
