5/81 Dragon Farmhouse

Farmhouse. C16 with C17, mid-C19 and C20 alterations. Timber-frame with
brick infill and brick extension, machine tile roof. T-plan, stem extending
to south, cross-wing at north end, external ashlar stack to east gable of
cross-wing; large stack between two bays of other range. West front: jettied
gabled range to left, other range to right; cross-wing: two storeys, a 3-light
casement to each floor; other range: two storeys, two bays, that to left timber-
framed, one plus two casements to first floor: ground floor: 2-light casement to
left; C20 lean-to against right bay with entrance to extreme right and two
windows. Framing: close-studded with curved tension brace to cross-wing, four
square panels high to the other range. Interior: over cross-wing fireplace is
set a panel carved in relief with two dragons, dated "16/14". There are traces
of a moat around the house.
