Former farmhouse. C18, late C20 renovations and rear extension. Whitewashed
rendered cob on stone rubble; deep thatched roof, half-hipped at ends; rendered end
stacks; rear left corner stack dismantled.
Plan: Originally double depth; 2 rooms wide with a central passage, principal rooms
to the front, narrow rear left kitchen, rear right dairy. The partitions between
the service and principal rooms have been removed. The stair rises off the cross
passage. A flat roofed 2 storey extension has been added to the rear.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Tall symmetrical 3-bay front with a C20 thatched lean-to porch
on posts, C20 timber front door. C20 timber casement windows with glazing bars, the
ground floor windows slightly bowed. 2 casements in the left return.
Interior: Late C18 cupboards to both front rooms, some exposed joists to the rear
ground floor rooms; C18 or early C19 stick baluster stair; 2 panel doors on the first
floor.
Roof: Pegged A frames of an C18 character with halved collars and the principals
halved at the apex.
On an important corner site in the centre of the village. Group value with adjoining
barn and other buildings in the village centre.
