THE ESPLANADE
Dukes
(Formerly listed as Nos 1 and 2 (Marlborough Hotel))
II
Formerly two houses, set back from line of Esplanade. Both now form a hotel. Three storeys double fronted stucco houses. Former No 1 has bowed sash windows and modillion eaves cornice. Former No 2 has been altered with "olde" features to the fenestration. This house is on the site of an ancient chapel of St Peter, attached to a Cell of Otterton Priory. Most of it was demolished in 1805, but patches of the old stonework can still be seen.
