Description

SO 44 NE WELLINGTON CP -

3/120 Barn and cow shelter about
50 yards south-south-west
- of Wootton

GV II

Barn and cow shelter. Probably mid- to late C18. Timber-frame, weatherboards,
rubble and brick plinth, plain tiled and corrugated iron roof. Seven-bay thresh-
ing barn fronting road aligned east/west with cow shelter returned to
north from west end. Full-height ledged doors to threshing floor in third
bay from west. Frame: two panels high from high plinth to wall-plate;
some woven infill survives at west end of north side. Cow shelter with
timber posts, open to east, screened from south by high gabled brick screen
wall which links with south wall of barn. The mixture of masonry and timber-
framed is typical of this region, although here the brickwork appears to be
secondary. The cow shelter is included for the completeness of the group
and as a fair example of the type.
