Pair of houses. Early C17 with mid-C19 alterations and additions. Timber-
framed with painted brick infill and replacement walling; plain tiled roof.
Three framed bays aligned north/south; external chimney at north gable end
with offsets and detached brick stack (now partly infilled); also external
chimneys at rear. Single storey and attic with dormers. Framing: three
panels from sill to wall-plate; short straight braces in some upper corners;
collar and tie-beam trusses with struts. West front elevation: ground floor
has two 2-light casements and a 3-light casement with a cambered head; three
gabled dormers with 2-light casements; two C20 doors with plank weatherings.
Interior: No 50 inspected. Intermediate collar and tie-beam truss with
raking struts. Main ceiling beams have ogee-stop chamfers; ogee doorhead
in front wall of central bay. Attic storey has some re-used Cl7 panelling
and also some Cl7 turned balusters. A C19 two-storey two-bay addition
adjoins the west side of the north bay. It has a ground and first floor
3-light casement in its gable end (ground floor window is C20 and first
floor window has a cambered head). In angle with main part is a ground
floor 3-light casement with cambered head, a 3-light and a 2-light first
floor casement and a small lean-to with a ledged and battened door. At
junction of lean-to and south wall is a tall brick chimney stack; also
bridge ridge stack.
