SO 97 NW BELBROUGHTON CP GALTONS LANE (east side)

6/29 Reid Cottage

House. C17, with mid-C19 alterations; restored late C20. Timber-framed
with painted brick infill and replacement walling; thatched roof. Two
framed bays aligned north/south; external chimney at south end with brick
stack, now enclosed by brick addition. Single storey and attic with dormers.
Framing: three panels from sill to wall-plate, short straight braces in some
upper corners, no trusses visible. West front elevation: windows are all C19
leaded casements; two ground floor windows and two eyebrow dormers; entrance
to right of centre has a thatched lean-to brick porch with a C20 door.
Interior: stop-chamfered main ceiling beams. Gable-end walls replaced but
frame otherwise largely intact. Large fireplace in south bay. Large L-shaped
C20 extension at north gable end includes present main entrance.
