Arch. 1828 by OSAKI in Japan, erected here 1905-26 for Herbert
Goode (1865-1937) a wealthy glass and china merchant who began
the Japanese Garden in 1905. Green cast metal. Circular section
converging uprights and twin parallel crosspieces with horned
heavy capping member following a timber prototype like the Red
Arch(q.v.). Inscriptions in raised lettering on central plaque
and each upright. Inscribed signature on one leg. This arch or
TORII formerly stood in front of the Fox Shrine in the garden.
