Farmhouse, now a private house. C17 or earlier. Timber frame on stuccoed
brick sill painted black, roughcast with basketwork-pattern panelled
pargetting. Steep old red tile roof extending as catslide over wide rear
range. 2-storey, 3 windows wide house, at rear of farmyard facing S.
Flush 3-lights casement windows. Lean-to door up step with half-glazed
central door. Plan basically L-shaped with large chimney with
back-to-back fireplaces and oven between house and rear NE wing
(presumably a kitchen) with axial beam and exposed joists. Exposed
cross-beam in E front room. Entrance into passage leading to stair in
rear part. A separate chimney backs onto this passage heating the W
front room. Thin red bricks in older fireplace with oak lintel moulded
with roll-mouldings. Fragments of moat.
