- at Meesdenbury Farm

GV II

2 attached barns. C17. Timber frames on a red brick sills, dark
weatherboarded with steep half-hipped roofs now corrugated iron. E part
on 8-bay tall aisled barn of majestic proportions, facing S with 2 swept
roofed porches on S side. Jowled posts with long straight braces to
tie-beams and arcade plates. Sills project across aisles to support
arcade posts. Clasped purlin roof with collar trusses with curved
queen-struts. Aisle purlin carried on upcurved brace to back of post.
Face-halved bladed scarfs in arcade plates. W part lower 4-bay aisled
barn facing S. Jowled posts and long curved braces to cambered tie-beams
and arcade plate. Sills project to support arcade posts. Clasped-purlin
roof with queen-struts. Face-halved bladed scarf joints in arcade plates
over posts.
