Lodge and gateway. Erected 1816 by Mrs E Bulwer Lytton from
material of the gatehouse destroyed in the alterations to
Knebworth House in 1811. Tudor red brick with stone dressings.
Some C19 red brick and stucco. 2 storeys. 2 lodges either side
of C16 moulded archway, this with hood mould. Plaque over gate.
2-light Tudor windows with square moulded hoods. 3-store
octagonal stair turret on right of arch with narrow slit windows
and door in Tudor surround. Late-C19 right extension with reset
Tudor windows. Battlemented throughout in C19 stucco.
