Barn. Late C16 or early C17. Timber frame on low brick sill, dark
weatherboarded and with a steeply pitched roof now of corrugated
iron. A low 3-bays barn facing S into yard with double door opening in
middle bay on S. Heavy jowled posts and long heavy curved braces to
cambered tie-beams. Face-halved scarf in rear wallplate. Heavy straight
inclined queen-posts support a single purlin in each roof slope. Simple
splayed scarf joint in purlin over truss. Long tension braces from
corner posts to sill-beam. C18/C19 small quadrant braces to door frame.
