Public House. Late C16 or early C17 origins. Extended late C18 or early C19 and later C19, altered C20. Timber frame, roughcast and part weatherboarded. Extended in brick, colourwashed. Tiled roofs. Original cottage has a 2-bay main range now appearing as a crosswing to right with a lower wing forming an L-plan. 2 storeys and attic. Main gable to front right. Ground floor C19 canted bay. First floor glazing bar casement. Small attic window. Exposed purlins and wall plate. Set back to right is lower timber framed wing with a later glazed entrance porch in the angle. Right end weatherboarding and exposed purlins. To rear of main range a large external stack. To left late C18 or early C19 2- storey block has 2 ground floor glazing bar sashes of 18 panes and 30 panes, the latter under a cambered head. First floor 16-pane sash. Sprocket eaves. Left end stack. Further left is 1-storey late C19 addition with a projecting gabled bay to front. Left end stack. Catslide over additions to rear of both later blocks. Low hipped wing to rear of late C18 or early C19 block. Later l-storey flat-roofed additions not of special interest.
