Description

ROBOROUGH ROBOROUGH
SS 5717
19/184 No 2, Town Tenement
-
GV II

Cottage. Probably late C17. Rendered cob with wheatstraw thatched roof (half hipped
to left). Rendered stack.
Plan: One-roomed plan, facing west (ground falls to right). End stack to left and
front entrance to right. It is possible that this cottage was formerly part of a
larger house, incorporating the neighbouring house to the right (No 1, Town
Tenement).
Exterior: Two first-floor C19 two-light wooden casements and ground-floor C19 two-
light wooden casement to left. Doorway to right with C19 plank door and beaded
wooden frame. Late C20 glazed gabled porch.
Interior not inspected but 2 ground-floor chamfered cross beams and segmental-arched
fireplace with stone jambs noted.
The cottage faces onto a courtyard (probably a former farmyard), opposite No. 3 Town
Tenement (q.v.).
