House, forming part of a row to the south of the parish church, and adjoining 'The
Retreat' (q.v.). C17, considerably remodelled in the C19. Cob, stone plinth,
plastered, under gabled-end slate roof, half-hipped to right-hand end. Formerly,
probably, a 3-room, cross-passage plan; 2 storeys.
Front: (facing away from church). 4-window range, the 2 upper windows to the left
with lintels at eaves level, the others a little lower; all C19 2-light casement
windows with transoms, 3 panes per light with margin panes. Ground-floor, three 2-
light windows, glazing bars removed except for margin panes; the left-hand window
has been adapted to a French window. Doorway with fielded panel reveals and soffit,
under latticed porch with canopy. C20 door and extension to extreme right-hand side.
Rear: (to Gravel Walk) with 3 sash windows to 1st floor, two 8-pane without horns and
retaining some crown glass, the other 4-paned and horned. Another horned sash to
ground floor, with 2 C20 windows and 2 doorways.
Interior: 2 C17 beams survive, one simply chamfered, the other (plastered) with cyma
recta moulding.
