BURLESCOMBE
Linhay approximately 2.5 metres north of Rocknell Farmhouse

Linhay. Probably mid C19. Local chert stone rubble with larger, more carefully-
dressed, quoins; slate roof.
Plan and exterior description: an unusual form of linhay facing south-west onto the
farmyard and backing onto the road. It is open-fronted and 10 bays, each opening is
nearly full height with a segmental arch over. Some of the ground floor/cow byre
and tallet/hayloft openings now have plain plank doors. Roof is gable-ended.
Interior has plain carpentry detail including an A-frame truss roof with nailed lap-
jointed collars.
