House. C17, remodelled in the mid C19. Plastered cob and rubble; gable end slate
roof with overhanging eaves on shaped brackets. Originally a 3 room, through-
passage plan house, the service end to the right of the passage. The house was
extended towards the higher end, probably in the mid C19. Hall heated by axial
stack backing on to the passage; end stacks, that to the right possibly serving the
adjoining house (no. 7, q.v.) for the service end was heated at some time by a rear
lateral stack, now no longer functioning. 2 storeys.
Exterior Front: 5 window range; first floor with 16-pane hornless sash windows,
some retaining their crown glass panes; ground floor: 3 similar windows to the left
of the entrance, one to the right. Doorway with reeded pilasters and moulded
canopy. Hornless sash window to left-hand end, with late C20 casement window above.
Some C19 casement windows to rear.
Interior: hall with chamfered axial ceiling beam with shallow step stops, otherwise
mid-C19 joinery, including internal panelled shutters.
