2/27 Bonningtons Farmhouse

House, former farmhouse. Late C16 and C17. Timber framed and plastered and of
2 storeys with later crosswing at east end. Roofs are gabled and of pegtiles
with off-centre ridge line stack. Front has C20 pargetting, C19 flat hooded
porch on double scroll brackets and C19 casements. Rear has 2 wide canted bay
windows. To west is hipped pegtile roofed and part black boarded C18 outhouse,
with covered link to end of house. Internally, the framing is exposed with
heavy jowled posts forming 3 bay 'baffle entry' plan structure and later C17
extensions. Inglenook fireplace with, on one side, a cambered and arched oak
lintel with flat chamfers, probably reused.
