Pond Cottages

II
Pair of Cottages. Probably C18 but virtually no dateable features: altered in C20. Rendered rubble walls which may incorporate some cob. Thatch roof gabled to left end and hipped to right. Two rendered probably rubble stacks at gable end of original house.

Plan: originally a pair of two-room plan cottages, each with one room heated. At the right-hand end a former barn was converted in the C20 to part of the accommodation.

Exterior: Two storeys. Asymmetrical three-window elevation facing road, five windows on ground floor - all late C20 casements without glazing bars. Converted barn at right-hand end is lower. Two doorways on rear elevation with C20 stable-type doors.

Interior: completely modernised in later C20 with ceiling beams renewed and fireplaces rebuilt.
