Barn to the south-east of Westhorpe Farmhouse

GV II

Barn. C17, with C19 alterations and additions. Coursed rubble
coal measures sandstone with quoins, stone slates, asbestos tile
and pantile roof coverings. Single storey with overlofts, eight
bays, with full height opening to south-west elevation, a single
opening to the north-west end and numerous blocked triangular
vents. Although the interior is considerably altered, there is
evidence of it having been cruck framed. One cruck truss
survives within the third bay at the north-west end, supporting
a single purlin roof. The truss retains curved windbraces. The
remaining seven bays have substantial tie beam trusses with
struts, supporting double purlins.
