West end of house of C17 origin. Originally appears to have had two projecting
wings at front, forming small court. The easternmost of the wings has
been incorporated in newer C19 block. Older part had hipped roofs formerly
of stone slates, now of plaintiles; one dormer with segmental head. Doorway
has moulded architrave, 4 panelled door, rectangular fanlight. There are
6 original stone mullioned windows to front, those to 1st floor retaining
lead glazing. Walls of coursed rubble with back (facing South) has one
4-light and one 5-light stone mullioned window. New addition to East is
higher and appears to be C19. Roughcast finish. Stone plinth. Stone
slate roof. Chamfered quoins. East front is 5 window, 2 storeys, basement
and attic. Ashlar parapet, cornice. Sash windows without glazing bars.
Central round-headed doorway with pediment on console brackets. Interior
of older wing has fireplace with 4-centred arch. Forecourt wall, railings
and gates to Cornhill front: C19. Stone wall. Railings have uprights
with spiked finials to railings and gate; in gates, uprights rise alternately
to 2 different heights. At intervals, square standards with coved finials.
