TQ 4696 - 4796 LAMBOURNE ONGAR ROAD,
7/8 River Cottage
GV II

House, C18. Timber framed, part weatherboarded, part roughcast rendered, roofed
with handmade red clay tiles. 3 bays aligned approx. NE-SW, aspect SE, with
chimney stack to rear of NE bay. 2-storey lean-to to rear. Single storey lean-
to extension with slate roof and conservatory at SW end. 2 storeys with attics.
Ground floor weatherboarded. Central 4-panel door, upper panels glazed, in
introduced surround richly carved with naturalistic fruit, foliage and 2
children's heads, in C20 tiled lean-to porch. 2 double-hung sash windows of
12 lights, C20. First floor roughcast rendered, with 3 similar windows.
Gambrel roof. 3 cast iron windows of unusual type, one in the NE gable at attic
level, 2 in the SW end at attic and first floor levels with lattice glazing '
bars, marginal lights of coloured glass, V heads, and central pivots.
