House, now hotel. Early to mid C19 with extensions of 1973. Dressed stone with
ashlar dressings, hipped slate roofs. North-west elevation of 2 bays, the 2nd
bay projecting by one bay, with C20 flat-roofed extension to right. Quoins and
1st floor sill band, wide eaves. Windows have architraves and are sashed with
single glazing bars, those to ground floor have frieze and cornice. 2nd bay has
windows to left return and large port cochere to front, Tuscan columns on
plinths with entablature and balustrade. Round-headed entrance has mask to key
and paired half-glazed doors. Extension masks service wing with timber bell
turret, with pyramidal roof and weather-vane. Varied stacks with tall chimney
pots. North-east elevation of 4 bays, the 4th bay recessed, similar details to
above. South-east elevation of 3 bays with 5-bay extension to left. verandah
has 4 pairs of cast iron columns with traceried columns supporting ornamental
cast iron balustrade. Ground floor has French windows. Extension has Tuscan
columns to verandah, and balustrades to 1st floor balcony and parapet.
Interior retains stair, fireplaces, etc.
