Former house and shop, formerly terraced. C19 earlier. Yellow stock brick with stucco band at first floor level. Original wooden shopfront (altered) with fluted quarter columns at sides carrying entablature with dentil architrave and projecting cornice. First floor with three broad sash windows under gauged brick heads and rebuilt parapet. Close to rear built 1989-90 and not of special interest. No.49 Gough Street has an exceptionally fine early C19 shopfront.
