Early-mid C19. 3 storeys and basement. Rendered basement. Brick with stucco
string at 1st floor level. Flat eaves to hipped slate roof. 2nd chimneys.
3 bays, glazing bar sashes, arched on ground floor with square heads, stucco
tympana and marginal glazing. Central 6 panel door in deep arched recess and
framed by engaged Greek Doric fluted columns. Steps up to door. Radiating
and patterned fanlight. No 38A forms a 3 storey 1 bay link to No 40, ground
and 1st floor windows altered. Parapet.
