adjoining wall and gateway

House, early C18 added to later C18, replaced early C19 in Gothick style.
Brick, rendered, lined as ashlar. Tile roof to main range, slate roofs to C19
additions. Originally lobby entrance plan, with added LH canted bay,RH and
rear ranges. 2 storeys and attics. Scattered fenestration. Various timber
and metal casements in stone surrounds with foiled heads, and beneath
rectangular hood moulds. Ground floor French window has embattled transom,
coloured glass to heads. 1st floor windows have patterned leaded glazing,
some replaced. Buttressed porch with embattled parapet. Pointed arched
doorway, the hood with scroll stops. Timber door with Gothick glazed panels;
decorative leaded glazing to side windows. Embattled parapet to original
range. Moulded first floor band with bosses continuing to LH canted bay which
is similarly fenestrated with coloured glass to ground floor window heads. 3
storey RH wing similarly treated. Interior: staggered butt purlin roof to
early C18 range. To rear: embattled gateway rendered brick; rusticated
turret-like piers, with pyramidal tile caps, rise above embattled parapets
over archway. Arch has rusticated voussoirs and keystone. Embattled red
brick wall links gateway to house.
