Wealden hall house, and byre, now 2 flats. Mid C15, refurbished 1958.
Timber framed with brick infill, and part brick; old tile roof. L-plan;
2 framed bays with former hall in south west bay; jettied on road front.
Former byre of 3 framed bays adjoining at rear. 2 storeys. Ridge chimney
on right. Road front:-exposed beam from ground floor posts. Formerly
recessed hall bay underbuilt in brick. Moulded bressumer on left; framed
bay continues on No.37 adjoining (listed separately 18/69 ) Two 3-light
and two light C20 diamond leaded casements on first floor. Two C20
3-light transomed and mullioned windows on ground floor either side of planked
entrance door, approached by 2 steps. Interior:- fine timber frame exposed,
moulded bressumer beam returns inside between bays on ground floor, with
long shutter grooves along window on front elevation. Jowled posts on
first floor, chamfered purlins and central tie with run-out stops in former
solar. Clasped purlin, redundant crown post roof exposed, with holes in
rafter feet on west faces and curved windbraces. Shutter groove along
window in front elevation above that on ground floor.
